What data we hold and why

CompareCatteryPrices.co.uk holds two categories of data:

• Licensing data — sourced from UK local authority animal activity licensing registers, published under Schedule 3 of the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. This is public register data; we process it on the basis of legitimate interest in public accountability for licensed animal welfare premises.
• Price data — sourced from publicly accessible operator websites. We record the price shown, the URL observed, and the date observed. We do not store payment card data or any personal data about cattery customers.

Operator addresses

We display town and outward postcode only. Full street addresses are not displayed for any operator. For premises likely to be a home address (home cat boarders), we apply additional caution and may display town only pending a manual review.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics through the Google tag to understand aggregate site usage. Google Analytics may set analytics cookies and collect usage data such as page views, device information, and referral information. Where configured, we may also use Plausible Analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or share data with ad networks.

Your rights

Data retention

Licensing data is retained while the operator appears to be active. Price observations are retained for 24 months. We delete data on request where we are not required by law to retain it.
